The Tower of Light is a historic and iconic building in the heart of Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Once a place where light bulbs were produced and tested, it owes its very name to light. For this project, we created a 3D projection in which a small bulb — “Lempke” in the local Brabant dialect — takes the lead role. This tiny light stands as a symbol of illumination itself. In our projection mapping, these bulbs transform into pixels. And with pixels, you can create magic.
Storyline: With a DAF 33 (built in Eindhoven in the 1960s), we take a ride to the Tower of Light, passing several city landmarks. Arriving at the tower, we see a warm light coming from the top. The tower opens, and the red light bulb inside begins to duplicate. The tower rejects this duplication and pushes all bulbs away. But they return and cover the building, becoming pixels. These pixels start fantasizing, eventually transforming the building into a slot machine. The original red bulbs are the winners of the game.
